Simple, but So True

Hello!! I've tried to post something in this blog. but, i have no idea. I don't think that my life was so busy, but yeah... So, i don't wanna talk about my experience in this entry because i don't know which experience that i should tell you guys. Life in USA, especially Vancouver is so amazing. Even though, life will not always be as flat as pancake, but I'm enjoying every single times here. This is life in a year, not a year in life. So, wassup? lol.
Couple day ago, i wrote an article (or whatever it is) for my friend as a gift for her birthday. I promised to make a short story, but i couldn't just because i have no idea. lol. So, i decided to write something based on the fact that i have done so far during my exchange year. I think it's gonna be way better than only a short fiction story. isn't? And this entry is gonna tell you what that is.
1. Love your friends
As an exchange student, it's not that easy to find a new friend from another country. Some might think that it's not hard. You just have to be brave and walk up to somebody and say Hi. Oh man! Logically, that's true but in fact? Can you guarantee that you'll get a new friend by only saying Hi? Okay, that's why i said this is not easy. So, love your friends you've already had. Keep in touch even though you're far away.
2. Once you leave your home country, you'll know how much you love it
So much things happened. But i still remember the situation just before my departure. Kakak-Kakak Volunteer stood and sang "Tanah Airku." I saw most of my friends were crying or at least seemed to cry. Oh yeah, just because a song? Well, you'll know that. You celebrate Independence Day alone in foreign country, you miss foods that you usually eat, etc.
3. Happiness might be so simple
Who said that you have to be outside of your country to be happy? Live in foreign country is truly adorable. Doesn't mean that the happiness will come just by "living in foreign country." Happiness might come from a simple thing that you can have in you home country. As simple as the word "Good Job" that you get after bicycling for 2 miles and got the worst result. Isn't cool? Yeah, that's so SIMPLE.
4. Be an ambassador
What are you gonna do if somebody asks you such a "silly" question about you? For example, "Where are you from? Is it dangerous?" C'mon, this is your turn to let everyone knows that this earth is awesome. Nothing's dangerous. Because, if this earth has a dangerous part, nobody will live in this planet. So, what are you waiting for? Let's tell them.
5. Manage your expectation
Okay, especially for the next ambassador, the next exchange student! Don't think that you'll just travel around, get new best friends, become popular, or any kind of awesomeness!! Your life will be nice but it doesn't mean that you'll just relax. Something may be happened, such as homesick, shock because different school system, or maybe just tired of speaking foreign language everyday.
Those things might be simple, but they're so true. They represent my life so much, or at least lessons that I've got from my journey.

Lable Only

Disability is a matter of perception. If you can do just one thing well, you're needed by someone. - Martina Navratilova I've been wanting to talk about this since so long ago. Not trying to compare because I know that there's nothing better or worse, but only different. So, how is it to be someone with disability in Indonesia? First, let me tell you who I am. I was born just like the other who can walk, etc. 2009, there was an earthquake in Padang and I lost my legs because of that. So, I am now disabled like what other people say. At first, it was hard. I did not want to go out and even just taking pictures with the weelchair on. I just did not want people to know me as someone who is "cacat" (the word somehow doesn't make me feel good). But then, afte all the supports from family and friends, disability ain't a nightmare anymore. The year I spent in the United States actually helped me a lot to get up. (Thanks AFS). I learned a lot of things in Amer...

You Need to Choose One

What will you do when you get bored at school while everyone was talking about things that you never know? Weird question, buy I don't care. Because sometimes that will be happened to you. There are so many options to do, but can you choose the best one? Um, maybe. You can ask them to talk about the other topics or you can go away from them or you can do stuff with your phone (or any other gadgets) or you can eat something so you seem like you are busy. Haha. Too many options and you need to choose one!

How was Snow?

It has been a while since the last time I wrote something in this blog. Well, I didn't mean too but I really had no idea about what I supposed to write. Even now, I still don't know. Anyway, I've been here (USA) for 6 months already. Can you believe that? Do you wanna know my experiences? Well, I have no clue which experience should I tell you... O wait, I think I know what I need to tell you. My first snow . Everyone knows that I'm a tropical girl. I come from a country that will never have snow. Fortunately, I get to live in this area (Vancouver-Portland) which doesn't have that much snow. Ya, people said that we might only get snow once in a year and it's not gonna be so thick. But, one day, to be exact last Thursday, February 6, we had snow 6inches or maybe more. We had no school. Yuhuu. This was not my very first snow, but the one in November. It was just a little bit. This one was the one that I could play with. I spent about 2 hours everyday during weeke...
